Bringing the best of Italy to market

Why Specialized Travel Professionals Can Be Worth Their Weight in Gold

by John Rasiej, Business Coach and Consultant

Specialized travel expertise matters.

Run-of-the-Mill Rome recommendationWhen people think of travel agents, often they consider the factors of convenience in making plans and perhaps finding better deals on some of the excursions and hotels they hope to visit. But finding a great travel expert who specializes in the locations you hope to visit can matter big time when it comes to how FULFILLING your vacation will be.

More than simply visiting places, most of us want to experience the culture and the feel of the area we visit. As well as to get to know more about its people. With today’s technology any one of us can go on-line and book flights, make hotel reservations and even get a cursory overview of what makes any particular region or city worth exploring. Often those “unbelievable deals” are just a click away. So besides the convenience of not doing it yourself, what can an elite travel professional offer you?

CalendarThe time frame when you visit a country, a region or a city can enhance your vacation

Specialized help comes in personalizing the experience and maximizing opportunities that come up at different times of the year. A great travel provider will get to know you and bring out ideas that match your passions. Knowing those things could sway your decision of when you travel to particular cities and regions. For example, this month in Italy there are many different special events aimed at particular interests. Just a short list includes:

Couldn’t just anyone find all this information out?

Internet Information OverloadYou want to work with a true specialist who has a passion for that country. Why does it matter? Well, there’s not one spot on the Internet where you can find every single thing compiled. And even if there were, it might take ages to sort through things. A dedicated expert who really knows a country or region will be able to stay on top of what’s offered at certain times of the year, and then match those with your dreams or hobbies.

What might you miss by booking a cookie-cutter vacation?

Motorcyclist in ItalyIf you love motorcycles for instance, how much would it hurt to have planned your own trip to Italy for early November and only as you’re about to leave find you missed the chance to be at the biggest show of the year, perhaps see some models you’d never see at home?

PalioOr if you’ve seen the Palio in Siena and loved it but want something different your next visit, wouldn’t it be great to hear about a Palio with donkeys done in the small hilltown of Cocconato?

That’s where a top-notch travel specialist can really stand out above and beyond. Not just to know the best hotels, the best restaurants and how to get museum tickets. But rather to know a country intimately. To know what happens there that makes it special. What the people of a city or region celebrate and cherish, and match it to your dreams for the trip.

Great post! I so agree it is worth the investment to work with an educated Travel Provider. In addition, it saves a lot of time and aggravation of spending needless hours searching through hundreds of website looking for “the perfect deal”. I also think it is important to work with someone who knows the country(city) and can provide details enjoyable things to do(or not) I love your insights !

These are great points, especially for a “do it myself” person! The internet seems to make it easy to find fares and hotels, but the deeper details of deciding on the best time and special events are more difficult and, I admit, I’ve often just missed out. Thanks for pointing this out, I’ll send others to look at this!
